The Scilly Isles are not full of night clubs discos and theme parks, but for a sea based holiday they can be superb, swimming and sailing here is excellent. The sea is warmed by the Gulf Stream, and the whole feel of the islands climate is more Mediterranean than British. 

This warmer climate accounts for the spectacular plant life to be found at Tresco Abbey in particular, but throughout the islands, the vegetation seems different than on mainland Britain. More information from Tresco .co.uk

The Swimming and Sailing is superb, and the many wrecks attract Divers from all over to visit. There are Dive Schools on the Islands so it is possible to learn here as well as being a haven for more experienced Divers.  For those interested in diving, this site has a good list of the wrecks around the isles
